  As the school year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting not just on what my students have learned in math—but on how far they’ve come in ways that can’t always be measured by a test or worksheet. This year, we celebrated the big wins—mastering addition strategies, understanding fractions, building confidence with numbers. But we also celebrated the quiet victories: persistence, patience, and courage. Math can be challenging, especially for students who have been told—directly or indirectly—that they’re “not good at it.” One of my greatest goals as a teacher is to help rewrite that story. To show my students that math is not about being fast or perfect, but about thinking, trying, and growing. To my students: I am so proud of you. You showed resilience on the hard days and determination when things didn’t come easily. You learned more than math this year—you learned about yourselves.
